I am using Windows VISTA RC1 x86 Build 5600. The indexing service for vista
desktop search has stopped working. When I opened the indexing option from control panel I found everything is disabled and the message 'Indexing is not running'. I tried to manually start the indexing service but still didnt start. Any Idea why its happening or how to solve this problem? Thx. |

This is a known problem. You can re-install RC1 5600 (do an "upgrade" so
you won't lose your files and settings). That worked for me. But, as long as you are at it, you could also try an upgrade to build 5728. That should also fix the broken search index problem. If you look closely at the message you are replying to, you will see that it was posted in September 2006 and was referring to a beta build of Vista. If you are having problems, please start a new thread and include the exact details of the problem. -- Ronnie Vernon Microsoft MVP Windows Shell/User "worthington10" wrote in message ...
