Default XP to Vista connection sharing

Hello all...I have two laptops. A Dell XPS running Vista Business @ 2GB of
RAM. The other is a Dell Inspiron running XP Pro @ 1GB RAM. The XPS running
Vista has an internal Verizon Mobile Broadband card in which I have mobile
broadband service.-------I am trying set up my laptops either wirelessly
(which would be awesom) or crossover cable so that the XP Pro comp will be
able to connect through the Vista comp in order to gain internet access. I
have a wireless Linksys router if necesary. I used to have local wireless. I
need to know how to configure IP settings on either the LAN connection or the
local wireless connection. PLEASE HELP...I HAVE A $2000 COMPUTER COLLECTING
DUST
UNDER THE COUCH.

Let's start with a cross-over cable running between the two computers. Once you
get this working, we can discuss how to use WiFi, if you still want that
solution too.

Let me make a correction. I, after all was not using a crossover cable but a
straight cable, however I'm having the same issues and would still like to
know how to connect my XP thru my Vista Mobile broadband. I was attempting
the wired portion first using a Linksys Router(non-wireless) get the XP and
Vista to see each other which I have had no luck.

OK, if you want to use the Vista computer as the Internet gateway for the other
computer, you would TYPICALLY use a cross-over cable. Not all modern computers
require one, in your case; but start with the instructions for using one anyway.
