Okay I thought vista was supposed to allow you to edit file properties and
add custom tags so you could group and stack items by these custom tags, there are even instructions in the help "add tags or other properties to a file" which describes several methods to add/change properties on a file, including screenshots, I'm running vista ultimate and none of those methods work, all the properties are read only, the remove properties works but there doesn't seem to be any way to add/edit them. Was this feature removed?? do I need to do something to activate it? whats up? Thanks, - Kurt |

Okay it does work on music, some picture types and ms office documents. I
was trying to label zip files, isos, pdfs, downloaded program files and everything except the supported formats. Media collectors might find it useful but for me its practically useless. It can't be that hard to add metadata to a file even if it can't saved in the file itself, couldn't it be some where else on the drive the file location reference updated when moved (of course no gaurentees that references will be updated if saved to removable storage and moved around from non-vista machine, but I would still be happy with that). Oh well.. maybe someday. - Kurt "Kurt Harriger" wrote in message ...
