Default Vista Network & Sharing very slow to open

Network & Sharing initially worked without any issue when i first got my
laptop (descent specs, dual core amd, 2gb of ram, etc). However, about a week
or two ago, something went wrong and Network and Sharing stopped working
properly.

The Network and Sharing icon now always has an 'X' over it as if it were not
connected to any network (and i can connect to most networks and use internet
despite this), and gives me an error message saying "Connection Status:
Unknown, Server Execution Failed."

It takes anywhere between 60sec-2minutes for it to open Network & Sharing,
and even when it does open, it the program freezes, and i have to shut it
down with the task manager.

It doesn't seem to effect how the rest of the computer runs, even when
Network and Sharing freezes up.

I appreciate any help i can get, don't know what the problem can be, but i
can't get to or adjust any network settings because of this

Thanks!

By the way, it's an Acer Aspire notebook. I use Acer eNet management in order
to connect Wireless Networks. The "X" over the Network icon indicating that
there is no network connection remains even when i verify that i had indeed
connected to a network.

Steve,

also please check out this blog entry -

The post gives possible reasons behind the preceived performance decrease
and steps to fix it.

Cheers,
Katarzyna
