Default loss of internet connection and sidebar (but not 100%loss).

this occurs on both 32 and 64 bit premium editions as ive tried it on both.

The internet connection is fine until i run another application. (such as
windows media player)
Then the internet pages no longer load correctly.
it attempts to load but fails and may on some occasions bring in lets say
10% of the page.
Also The sidebar shows no content.
& messenger when in the faulty mode will still show any new messages that
may appear
although you are unable to open them.
the only solution is to restart.
(firefox also fails at the same time)

i am able to ping to any websites and get no loss of data (therefore appears
ok)
the net connection diagnostics reports no error.
and the net connection still appears as connected & apparently ok.
windows mail will load any new headers and the text portion of any mail
but not any other content.

please help as it is driving me potty and im considering reverting back to
xp.

Do you receive this symptom "the network icon will go off - it will display me as disconnected. Holding my mouse over it the popup says "connection status: unknown server execution failed"?

No Robert i recieve no error messages at all,
the connection would appear to be ok when in error mode.
all tests appear to flag the connection as good and healthy
it just will not download pages... it attempts too.

i am using windows firewall and Gdata antivirus if that helps

This problem is now fixed and was caused by my antivirus s/w being not compatable
even though they say it is vista ready.
the s/w package was Gdata antivrus 2007.
i would not recomend using this in vista it has given me months of grief.
