Default lose browsing capability every two hours and must reboot

I have a dell e1405 laptop with vista.
I have tried many solutions thru dell tech support but no help. We have
reset the dns tvp4 to address 4221 as well.
My stock app and my radio app continue to get data from the internet, but
I cannot browse after a couple of hours. Safemode with networking does
not allow browsing even at startup so this may be a key issue to find
solution.

I tried removing the checkmark in the network adapter power management that
stops the adapter to save power, but didn't help.

Microsoft website suggests to reset the winsock protocol for internet
connectivity issues. Should I try that?
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936211/

thanks for your help

Sure, I would try that first. If that doesn't fix the problem, try to reconfigure TCP/IP or DHCP settings. These post may help too,

Solved: Vista the internet connection problem
Vista: Local only - no Internet issues

I haven't tried the winsock reset yet because microsoft says I may need to
reinstall apps like norton.
So I am trying to determine first if that will solve the problem.
I have tried chicagotech solutions without any benefit as well as
reconfiguring tcp/ip.

When the problem occurs, I can ping yahoo.com, but I cannot
ping microsoft.com

And I cannot browse even with firefox.

what does that tell us?

thanks for any help .

I can't ping www.microsoft.com from startup, but the windows connection
diagnostic says there is no problem with my connection, and I can browse to
www.microsoft.com and anywhere else for two to three hours.

what's the problem?

This isn't a moderated forum, Richard. Most people, if they have nothing useful
to say, will say nothing.

The Winsock reset is just 1 of 5 LSP / Winsock repairs, and not 1 of the 5 is
any more effective than the others.

Pinging Microsoft isn't a good test. Generally, Microsoft blocks pings. Try
something like "www.yahoo.com".
