Default Profile Showing As Temporary

My user account is showing as temporary, and when I restart my desktop
settings and shortcuts that I created are gone and I have to reset them
everytime I logon.

This was happening to me when logging onto an NT domain.


Turn off User Account Control (UAC) in Control Panel¬ User Accounts ¬
'Turn user Account Control on or off'... Switch it off, restart, login.
local profile loading and status is local...

But what if you'd like to keep UAC on as it is a great feature
