Default Firewalls that work with Vista

Anyone aware of Personal Firewalls that work with Vista? I tried McAfee
Antivirus Plus but caused Vista to crush after I got a message which said it
was incompatible. I had to log in safe mode and remove it.

I know Vista has a better firewall now but it does not block outgoing
traffic by default and I would really want something that would warn me when
an application wants to access internet so that I can choose to let it or not.

I already said that. It does not however do what I want which is to be
alerted with a dialog when an application wants to access internet, does it?

Yes it does.

I use One Care Live though so that may be why it is alerting me when
something tries to access.

That's probably why. Because I know that out of the box RTM firewall does
not alert me on anything and everything I read suggest that it would not

It depends on the application is the best i can say. I don't have the One
Care beta on right now and I get the occasional prompt asking to make an
exception. The default for vista though is only unsolicited inbound
blocking which shouldn't be causing too many breaks, as something that
initiates a event still can listen. Its an elegant balance. You can enable
two way firewall but that isn't the default.

As for what works. I know the one care beta 1.5 which is on connect works
dandy.
