Default A hard disk could not be found

Well I do know that it appears to be a 32bit version (at least that is what
appears on the dvd cover of vista) - so if all I need is disk.sys and
partmgr.sys, why can't I download them or get them emailed to me from
someone??

Don't know what type of motherboard I have as I haven't received much
documentation and the whole machine is security taped so that if I take it
apart I will void my waranty. Which takes me to my next step - I think I
will just have to take it back to LMC and get them to fix it.

Thanks for your input - very much appreciated.

Thankyou Kerry and Gary.

The system I have is a computer purchased from Landmark Computers in Melb.
Running Vista Business. The hard drive is a Seagate 250Gb 7200rpm 16Mb
3.5"
SATAII

The only CD/DVD's that I have received are the Vista DVD and the Office
2007
one's. I have checked out Seagates site and all they say is that a
generic
hard drive driver will suffice. Well ok, how do I now get one of them? I
have spent the better part of all day yesterday trying to find it.

Please help if you can.

Let's be explicit here ... the driver you will need is for the HBA that
controls the disk drive, NOT for the disk drive. If you are trying to use
SATA then you need to find the proper SATA driver, or determine why the
driver you have went south.

Depending on the brand of your computer you may have a CD with drivers
on
it. Unless your computer came with Vista this is probably not the case.
You have to download the driver from the computer manufacturer's,
motherboard manufacturer's, or The HD controller chipset designer's web
site.

What is the make and model of your computer and/or motherboard?

When starting the computer it fails to load windows Vista. Then
when
booting
from the DVD and chosing the repair options it says that "A hard
disk
could
not be found" etc etc. How do I fix this as the repair options
will
not
help
me any further??

You have to load a driver for your hard drive controller. On the
screen
where it says it can't find a hard disk click on Load driver. You
will
need
the driver on a floppy disk, flash drive, CD, etc..

When you take it back insist on some documentation as to what is installed
in the computer. Those two files are not what you need. You need a driver
for the hard drive controller. There are a lot of possible hard drive
controllers. Without knowing the make and model of yours no one will be able
to help you.
