The reason is probably that you diod not read the ATI driver release notes before downloading and installing them. They DO NOT support OpenGL. The newest sept 2 RC1 drivers still do not support OpenGL either. From what i understand, i am a current Trains 2006 user under Win XP Pro, It does require for the CMP and quite a bit of the main software, the open gl capability. So you will have to wait for Open GL in ATI drivers. When that will be is anyones guess. Gigabyte "Mediaman" wrote: I have got the Vista B2 installed and working properly on my (intel) iMac, including Aero with all it's fancy effects. Most of my stuff is also working, including various games. However I can't get Auran Trainz 2006 to work at all, both the main game and the content management app (it has a custom content management section, that works with the official website). The game comes up with this error. http://www.tonysmac.pwp.blueyonder.c...ges/Error1.JPG "RenderingSystem failure Your computer hardware and or software is unable to communicate correctly with Trainz. Ensure you have: -Installed DirectX9 -Installed the latest drivers for your video card. -Tried both OpenGL and DirectX settings. If the above does not work, please consult your manual or visit tecnical support." Which suggests it needs both (?) DirectX (some people with different HW configs' have got it to run, so I don't think it's a 'looking for DX9 not DX10' sort of thing)and OpenGL (?). The Vid' HW in the iMac is a ATI Radion X1600 with 128mb of card ram. I have tried both the drivers that came with Vista and the ones you can get from ATI. Both work the card and let Aero do all it's transparency stuff, but both produce the same error, and don't seam to come with OpenGL drivers. Are there any other drivers for this card I can try? The Content management part comes up with this, which seams a bit cryptic. http://www.tonysmac.pwp.blueyonder.c.../Error2CMP.JPG "Error Unable to register Trainz URL registry key" I have no idea about this. Can anyone help shed any light on these problems? This is a 'clean install' of Vista (as the partition was formatted as Fat-32 before). So there are NO 'pre-Vista' bits hanging around to cause problems. The iMac HW specs are 2Ghz Intel Core Duo: 2Mb L2 Cache: 1.5GB RAM: ATI Radion X1600 Graphics with 128mb of RAM: Giving it a 'Vista Score' of 2. Thanks for any sort of help. |

i recently upgraded to vista and trainz2006 was a nightmare to run. but now it works perfectly including download manager what i first done was uninstall the old version of trainz 2006. then updated drivers for my videocard (radeon 1300) i then installed a newer version of trainz 2006 (its called trainz railway simulator it is actually trainz 2006 and is released by focus) i found a copy on amazon.co.uk for £8 and it is vista compatible, install it and at the end of the install it will ask you if you want to intall directx 9 click no, it will then intall netframework 2. after install go onto microsoft website and download netframework 2 service pack 1 (40mb) install update, go back to desktop and on the trainz 2006 icon right click and select run as administrator. when trainz menu comes up put in your details (username etc) then run content manger. hope this helps anyone having problems with trainz 2006 and vista -- rich54321 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ rich54321's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/member.php?userid=39163 View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/showthread.php?t=533914 http://forums.techarena.in |
