High Definition Audio Driver
I've installed Vista Basic on a ASUS P5VDC-MX motherboard everything
installed fine except for the Video Drivers which I downloaded from VIA and it works fine, the only problem I have now is with the High Definition Audio Controller, it shows in device manager with a yellow ! and says something about can not find enough free resources. I removed the driver and restarted the system, it found new hardware and installed saying successful and to restart the system which I did and it's still the same. The audio in sound controllers appear to look ok. |

I would check with Asus for Vista driver, it may have installed a basic
driver through the operating system but it may not be working right. Check Asus. I tried installing the driver from the Realtek site but it's still the same.
Asus says the motherboard is not supported with Vista, I don't know why, my suppliers and others here are still selling them. I had a problem with the PCI cards/slots not working on this board after a BIOS update so I downgraded the BIOS and everything worked, ASUS posted a new BIOS last week which I decided to try that out to see if it fixed the PCI problem which I think maybe the cause of the High definition audio, I tried downgrading again but it will not let me. Clayton,
If you can't get your sound working, you can always install a Vista compatible sound card, provided you have a motherboard slot in which to install it. Creative has several Vista compatible sound cards available. -- freddy "Clayton" wrote: I tried installing the driver from the Realtek site but it's still the same. In the BIOS, of course, Plug and Play OS should be "Yes", if that option is
there. Try uninstalling the PCI Bus in Device Manager and let Windows automatically reinstall it. This will then include rediscovering/reorganizing the allocations for all the devices under it, when your computer is restarted. (In the Menu bar, choose "View devices by connection", to see the list). Make sure the driver from Realtek is the Vista compatible one. "Clayton" wrote in message ... Uninstalling the PCI Bus didn't work either

Install ATK0110, from asus supprt page or from windows update. 1. Go to windows update, install latest version of framework. 3. Go to asus download, install sound driver, RTL653. The sound shoul work, it works for me on windows 7. The "HD AUDIO" from device manager is not HD audio, is PCI BUS from VIA, not compatible with Vista or Windows 7, just live it there. Is still there in yellow but the PC works fine with no problems. |

You might want to check also to make sure you installed the Chipset Drivers. And while Asus has Hi Def drivers for my board(p5b) they are not signed yet. Hope this helps. -- toolman30044 |
