Assuming original Halo...
These are the available downloads: http://www.microsoft.com/games/halo/downloads.aspx Also see: http://support.microsoft.com/ph/9229 I have only recently tried Halo on an older laptop with Windows Vista, but I do not seem to have any problems. Interesting game, but I haven't been hooked as some friends claimed. Make sure you have the latest drivers especially video. Reboot first and turn off everything nonessential. If you are using Norton, McAfee or some other resource hungry program, turn them off as well. Be sure to turn them back on (normally reboot will do it) before doing ANYTHING else after the game. Better yet replace with less resource hungry and more efficient such as Avast, Nod32 or AVG. What are your specs? -- Jupiter Jones [MVP] http://www3.telus.net/dandemar http://www.dts-l.org "Gallistero" wrote in message ... And why would buying a Radeon card help...are they both PCI and AGP in one card? Help me out here...I need to understand what you have done. -- VRG Scotty www.vistareadygames.com Down due to maintenance |

It SOUNDS to me like someone told him you need a PCI card (meaning to say PCI-Express) not knowing what they were talking about, but he's got an AGP motherboard, and an AGP video card (not sure which model, but it has 256Megs on board so it can't be THAT bad. Should run HaloZ), his system is rebooting while trying to get the game going probably because he's got corrupted or invalid video card drivers floating around his system. Probably just needs to upgrade to the latest nvidia drivers and the game will work. Problem is he's got a bunch of friends who don't know dick about computers passing themselves off as experts. That's just a guess, if he really did file off pins to get the AGP card to fit in his PCI-Express Slot then you are hosed buddy. Hope that wasn't your Dads computer. So which is it (he's probably no longer reading this), does the "Geforce 256" card boot into Windows at all? If it does, then you're probably OK with what you have. If it does NOT, what tools did you use to "mod" your video card? -A. |

Hehehe grinder and a pair of pliers...however no matter how it is read..none of the cards could fit no matter what bus they try them if they were AGP to PCI or PCIe..tis frightening what people will try cos their mates say so -- VRG Scotty www.vistareadygames.com Register, it's free, and use the 'search for solution' tab for any problems |
