Hi Guyz, need some help if possible before both machines become redundant,
I'm running XP as my main desktop pc and have an epson printer installed on this machine, the printer is shared and installed correctly and working from my daughters xp machine which is running wireless from her bedroom, I have a laptop running vista which is also wireless but when i try to add the printer as a network printer to my vista laptop i get the error message of Windows cannot connect to the printer. Access is denied. The network itself looks fine because I can map a hard drive from any of the machines both to and from any of the machines running xp or vista, but I'm really struggling to add the printer to the vista enviroment, any help here would be very much appreciated, TIA guyz. |

Sorted guyz, one of my buddies has just found this and should help any others
out there that maybe having the same issue, i've copied and pasted the solution below, hope this helps others out, its certainly worked for me. Logically it makes no sense to me, but it worked so... Go to Control Panel. Choose printer. Then choose Add Printer. ChooseAdd a local printer. Click on Create a new port. The default in the drop down box is Local Port. Do not change that. Click Next. A dialogue box will appear asking for you to enter a port name. Type in the \\computer name\printer name ie. My computer's name is basement and the printer name is EpsonSty so I typed in \\basement\epsonsty Yahoo! It worked. Go figure! I guess Microsoft thinks printers on a intranet are local "BigMick" wrote: Hi Guyz, need some help if possible before both machines become redundant, I'm running XP as my main desktop pc and have an epson printer installed on this machine, the printer is shared and installed correctly and working from my daughters xp machine which is running wireless from her bedroom, I have a laptop running vista which is also wireless but when i try to add the printer as a network printer to my vista laptop i get the error message of Windows cannot connect to the printer.
