I am thinking about taking a hard drive out of my old XP machine and adding
it to my new Vista Home Premium. Any comments, do's or don'ts would be appreciated. |

Without knowing anything about either system's hardware components or your ultimate goal, it's not possible to provide any sort of concise, definitive answer. Is the old hard drive SCSI, SATA, EIDE, etc.? Does the new computer have the appropriate interface to which you can connect the old hard drive? Is your intent only to access/transfer data from the old hard drive, or are you thinking of creating a dual-boot configuration? -- Bruce Chambers Help us help you: http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety. -Benjamin Franklin Many people would rather die than think; in fact, most do. -Bertrand Russell |

uses SATA. So I am out of luck. "Bruce Chambers" wrote in message ... Your motherboard presumably has ATA support too, and the two can coexist. "Bruce Chambers" wrote in message ... Thks, I did find the connections on my motherboard to connect the parallel
hard drive. Seems to be working okay. Thanks again. "Ken Blake, MVP" wrote in message ... On Sat, 21 Jul 2007 16:42:59 -0500, "Just Plain Rick" wrote: thks for the comments.
