Default NVIDIA needs to update drivers for RC2 games

My GeForce 7800 GT worked perfectly with IL2 Forgotten Battles using
Forceware 96.33 under Vista RC1, but RC2 shows problems with that driver on
games. Normal GUI graphics are OK, though.

Did you upgrade from RC1 to RC2 or did you perform a fresh install? I did a
fresh install of Vista RC2 and after loading the 96.33 RC1 NVIDIA drivers
games such as F.E.A.R. now work far better than in previous builds but I
suspect that Microsoft also improved the NVIDIA chipset drivers. F.E.A.R.
now runs better in Vista RC2 than it does with XP which is something I did
not expect.

all my games will play if i use the stock standard drivers that microsoft
supply, how ever the sound in the games and even im media centre is ****e...
all static and choppy..
soon as i load on the nvidia ones, my games stop working, they hang at load
up and i just get a sound loop. but atleast it solves the choppy and static
sound issues...

Oh, I forgot to mention that is happening just for OpenGL. DirectX is Ok...
Of course this is a thing that NVIDIA has to correct, I am very satisfied
with Vista.

The x64 drivers (96.33) DO NOT WORK with RC2.

You will lose all hardware acceleration.
Videos will not play, 3d games don't work, and Vista even reverts to
non-Aero windows (non transparent, no Flip-3d etc).

x64 users will have to wait for updated RC2 drivers (I did not test
x86/32bit).

You're right. It is not OK with DirectX, either I checked now. I had to
revert to the MS native drivers.

Thanks

I will have to check my games, Aero works perfectly for me with the 96.33
drivers.

This is not completely correct. The NVIDIA website clearly states that the
RC1 drivers are good for RC1 5600 and HIGHER. I have a 7950 GX2 and it works
just fine with DC2. However, it is very wierd that Microsoft now hides part
of the 7950 GX2 in the device manager so you have to turn on hidden devices
to see both PCI slots.

EA Sports simracing still installs, but will not play 3dsetup cube stops
working when you try to play. I guess EA SPORTS is going to wait until
WINDOWS VISTA IS FINAL was a shame they have a contact with NASCAR FOR BEING
THE ONLY ONE TO DEVELOP A SIM FOR NASCAR RACING. SIERRA\PAPYRUS CAN'T
DEVELOP A NEW ONE FOR VISTA. But so far thier nascar racing 2003 is working
just fine

Hi to all,

I agree Nvidia needs to update the drivers. You lose Aero Windows with the
96.33 as walk said. Windows installed its own Nvidia drivers digitally
signed. I am able to play BF 2 ok but under RC 1 and Nvidia drivers 96.33
grass graphics were literally in squares. In RC 2 using the drivers that
Windows installed look good as Windows XP. RC 2 it is not sluggish at all.
The driver seems older than 96.33 on dates, dated 8/21/2006. However, the
driver number is newer as follows 7.14.10.9677. I have Vista 64bit. I
disagree with walk in that area. I have working drivers right now, thank to
God.
