Also unable to install HP C6180 All in one
I am also having problems with the install. I get to step 3 about 50% of the
way through and it has a fatal error. When I select the detail of the error I get: "hpzwrp01.exe -m dpinstxml_vista -l XXX -f X:\hpoins18.dat - Validate No dat - Validate No = Application did not return ERROR_SUCCESS Any thoughts? I have spent about 4 hrs with HP for them to tell me it is vista. I have tried from both the CD and the on site download. I have tried many things. It is amazing because it work great on an XP system I have at home. By the way I am trying through a network. The printer is installed by wire to the router. Thanks Rudolph |

Rudolph,
Maybe you need the rollup. Consider the following new USB fix that just came out: http://support.microsoft.com/default...en-us%3b936003 I don't know whether this fix is applicable to your situation, but you never know until you try it. -- freddy "Rudolph" wrote: I am also having problems with the install. Have you tried to COMPLETELY remove the old printer install. Just deleting the
printer from the Printer window will not necessarily remove it completely. In the Printers window, Menu bar (ALT if not visible). File Run as Administrator Server Properties..., Drivers tab, highlight the printer and press the remove button. ( Do not remove the XPS printer -- it is a b***h to reinstall.) If there are any HP entries for your printer in Control Panel Programs and Features, uninstall them also. If the printer is USB, make sure it is not connected to the PC. Reboot. Run the downloaded HP software and ONLY plug in the printer USB cable when prompted. -- I Bleed Blue and Gold GO BEARS! "Rudolph" wrote in message ... I am also having problems with the install. Thanks. It is network connected so I don't have to worry about connecting
before or after. There are no printers other than XPS and onenote2007. I will look into the patch as well, have had no success getting past the driver install. Have you tried the File Run as Administrator Add Printer?

Thanks Rudolph Rudolph, did you do a clean install of Vista or an upgrade? The reason I ask is that upgrades are very tricky to say the least. Wayne |

In article ,
Rudolph wrote: *It is network connected so I don't have to worry about connecting* before or after. Since it still does not install why not try disconnecting anyway; or closing the network? I don't used networked printer in one sense of that word but I've an idea that you have to install a driver on the machine to which the printer is not connected and you have to make sure the port / URL is correct. Rudolph,
I did a google search on "Application did not return error_success." I got lots of hits, but I stopped when I found the following Microsoft KB article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/226494 The KB mentions this error a little past midway down, under Event ID 1008. It seems the idea behind the KB article is to obtain enough information in order to troubleshoot the problem. In that regard, you may want to use google to get additional information about this. In addition, take a look at the Vista error report found at Start Maintenance Problem Reports and Solutions. Peruse the report for this error and look for any recommended remedial action to take. You never know until you look. There might be a solution there. Just some additional information. -- freddy "Rudolph" wrote: I am also having problems with the install. Wayne, Vista came with the system, thanks for the suggestion.
Freddy, never saw that function before. Great ideas, none of it worked though. I will keep trying, thanks for all of the feedback everyone has sent so far.
