I might be late to the party, but I have to ask the same questions. I
have file and print sharing turned on and Vista can't see my network. Also
how do you search by IP Address in Vista. DHCP has pulled an addres, Vista
is using it to go out to the internet, but if I search by IP Address it
doesn't even see itself. What's up with that? Now the XP machines can
search for their own IP Address and find themselves, but not Vista. Talk to
me. All I want is to see the resdt of my network and my servers with Vista?
Hold my hand and walk me through this. Thanx.

Hello,

- are all computers on the same network? Right-click Computer in Vista,
click "Advanced system settings" at the left and go to tab "Computer Name".
Is the workgroup the right one? If not, click Change... and change the
workgroup name. Then, restart, if necessary.
- Does the firewall allow networking?
- You can't directly search for computers by IP as in XP or before anymore.
You can, however, click on Start - Network and search there using the
search box in the top right. Correct me, please, if I'm wrong.
