Default Unable to access two new hard drives

I have Windows Vista Ultimate 64 installed on a WD Raptor 150gb drive
currently and I just installed two new SATA 500GB Samsung HDs into my machine
and I am unable to even access them. They don't show up on my computer yet
they are both listed in device manager as working properly.

Any idea on why I can't access the hard drives at all? They seem to be
installed and working. I've even disconnected them and reconnected after a
reboot and still the same symptoms occur.

Did you go to Control Panel Administrative Tools Computer Management,
highlight Disk Management and initialize, partition, format and assign drive
letters?

Have you partitioned and formatted the drives using disk management?

That was it. Thank you Cal Bear and David B.

I was looking around for a way to format them etc. But just never knew the
direct path to do it. Still getting used to Vista's interface so its harder
to find things.
