Default Network Mapped Drive : Lost Network Connection

Hi,

A vista laptop has a mapped drive to a SBS2003 server.
The laptop is able to browse the share and open files, permissions on the
share a full control.
However, the vista laptop cannot edit documents directly in word or excel
2007.
An error saying the file has not been saved or in word that the file has not
been saved probably due to a network problem appears. If I open a blank
document in word or excel and then attempt to save it directly to the network
share, the file is created but no information is stored in it before the
error that it could not be saved is displayed.

A file can be saved to the desktop of the vista laptop and dragged to the
mapped drive to store it...but this isn't really ideal.

Assistance would be appreciated as I've never seen this kind of problem
before.

Thanks

Ian

Default Network Mapped Drive : Lost Network Connection

Hi Ken,

Yes this patch was already applied to the SBS 2003 server. Outlook is
working fine. It's the network sharing which isn't working.

Thanks

Ian

Default Network Mapped Drive : Lost Network Connection

Hi Ken,

Yes the issue is still evident with a clean boot. And I have also removed
any antivirus (as a temporary measure) and the issue is still persistent.

Do you know why a network share would work with dragging and droping items
from the desktop to it but from within the application (MS Word/MS Excel)
they are unable to access the share to save the data? (They create a blank
file and no data is saved to it).

I have never seen this kind of issue before.

Regards

ian
