Default vista doesn't see xp machines in net!

Hi:
I have a local network where all xp machines (and even one with win 98) can
see a vista machine, however, nobody can enter into its shared folders. Now,
the vista machine can't see any other computer - probably because we never
set the workgroup, but how to do it?
