Default ati x1900 crossfire for vista 64 bit home premium

I have been experiencing problems when staRTING up my Pc after installing
both A crossfire ready and crossfire edition video card simoltaneously. I
have a msi K9A Platnum motherboard that is compatible with crossfire in
addition to Windows Vista. I have updated all the drivers for the motherboard
as well as the video card. However, when I start my system a windows message
pops up saying that software or hardware has been changed on the computer and
how would I prefer to boot up my system-for example( safe mode, regular,
est). When I select safe mode, it begins to load and scan my files however it
freezes. When I start up the computer normal, the screen goes black instead
of booting to the normal windows.
Can I run an x1900 crossfire setup on a vista 64 bit operating system?

If there are frequent problems that have been reported to running an x1900
crossfire setup on vista than what are a few solutions?
