Default loading old game

I am trying to load an old game (Warcraft II Tides of Darkness) on Windows
Vista, but I keep getting an error message saying the system is not
compatible with full screen mode. I have tried the compatability program,
turning the color to 256 and lowering screen resolution with no results. The
start-up menu comes up fine for the game and I can even enter the map editor,
but it will not let me install the game. When I try, the little black screen
for MS Dos comes up and thenb the error message. This game does work on
Windows XP. Any help much appreciated.

Thats a dos game isn't it? Vista doesn't allow the command prompt to go full
screen. You have two options.

1. Install an old version of dos (if you have one).

or

2. Use something like DosBox
(http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/news.php?show_news=1) which is a dos emulator.

Phatpat, having some problems also, try running the game in XP compatability
mode, that worked for me, also try running as administrator in Visata. Good

Full-screen dos games are not supported under Vista (I don't know why), if
there is an option to run "windowed" you can try that, to run fulscreen you
will need to download dosbox, which is a dos emulator. Then you can run the
game inside of dosbox. Its a little tricky to get set up (dosbox just gives
you a dos prompt) but you can get it working

Hope that helps!
