Western Digital External Drive
I have attached a WD external drive via a FireWire connection. Device Manager
says FireWire port is good. The drivers seem to install correctly. But the drive does not appear in MyComputer. Vista does not recognize any USB ports for me to connect the WD external drive that way. Any thoughts? |

look in Device Manager if there are any Exclamation Marks that indicate
trouble with ports. Have a look if your Motherboard or System-Manufacturer has Chipset-Drivers for Vista out. Some PC-components only work if the MB-Drivers are installed. If you find no Vista-ones, try XP, no other way. "Like2Hike" schrieb im Newsbeitrag ... I have attached a WD external drive via a FireWire connection. Device Manager says FireWire port is good. I have a friend who had the same drive, attached the same way. He kept having to push the power button on the drive after every reboot. He ended up just plugging it into a USB slot and it works fine. Do you have a blue power button on your drive? Check to be sure it is actually on. -Michael |
