Just installed a D-Link DIR655 router. I have 3 computers hard wired. The 2
on XP work fine but the router cannot see the one with Vista Home Premium. The light on the router does not even light for that connection. I have disabled the IPV6 but still nothing. Funny thing is if I connect the computer from router by way of a Linksys switch, it works. D-Link says it's a Vista problem. Someone suggested assigning a static IP but I didn't have much luck. (not sure I did it right) Please help! Thanks. Marc |

Thanks for writing Barb,
I have updated to the latest firmware on the router. I tried everything you suggested. I think my Network Adapter is a Marvel Yukon built on my Asus P5NSLI board with latest driver. Just so strange that it work through the switch and not directly plugged into the router. I may have to try another router. Which one is your favorite? I use a DIR-655 :-)
So you have tried the driver at http://www.marvell.com/drivers/drive...dId=101&pId=39 ? is the NIC set at auto sense connection speed? it is possible that this http://support.microsoft.com/kb/934430 might be part of the issue too. try disabling auto tuning as per the KB instructions. I've got a Marvel Yukon on one of my desktops and I am not seeing an issue. Hi Barb,
I though we had it with the Marvell drivers because I did not have Vista drivers. But, alas, nothing helps. I'm going to get a Linksys WRT150N and see if that works. The wireless part isn't a big deal for me, I really wanted the gigabit router for gaming. Can you suggest a better solution than the Linksys? I have a D-LinK DI-624 which I could just use for wireless. THANK YOU for all your advice. Marc, you tried all the suggestions and nothing helped at all? One
last thing to check is whether flow control is on or off in the NIC properties. Can you try that and toggle and report back? can you also please post the output in text of ipconfig /all from an administrative command prompt after you toggle and reboot? to answer your question on router recommendations, I know several folks that are very happy with the Buffalo line of routers. However, we should be able to solve the issue with your current setup without resorting to that. one last thing to try (that I remember from the Vista beta and some
folks with Marvel Yukon NICs 1. Start button, type in devmgmt.msc [enter] and ack the UAC prompt 2. Expand Network Adapters 3. Right Click the Marvell device and go to properties. 4. Click on the advanced tab. 5. Select IPv4 Checksum Offload and set the Value to Disabled. 6. Select OK. On Thu, 9 Aug 2007 04:34:01 -0700, Marc in PA wrote: Flow control did not help. "Barb Bowman" wrote: Marc, you tried all the suggestions and nothing helped at all? One last thing to check is whether flow control is on or off in the NIC properties. "Barb Bowman" wrote: I use a DIR-655 :-) So you have tried the driver at http://www.marvell.com/drivers/drive...dId=101&pId=39 ? is the NIC set at auto sense connection speed? it is possible that this http://support.microsoft.com/kb/934430 might be part of the issue too. try disabling auto tuning as per the KB instructions. I've got a Marvel Yukon on one of my desktops and I am not seeing an issue. I think my Network Adapter is a Marvel Yukon built on my Asus P5NSLI board with latest driver. Just so strange that it work through the switch and not directly plugged into the router. I may have to try another router. Which one is your favorite? I have 3 computers hard wired. The 2 on XP work fine but the router cannot see the one with Vista Home Premium. Thanks.
