Default One Thing That's Benn Noticed About Slow Lan Transfers

I'd be interested to find out if anyone here can reproduce a strange
explanation for slow lan performance that I haven't seen mentioned here

Full explanation is here
http://forums.2cpu.com/showthread.php?t=83112

In brief, people are noticing that vista seems to cap the lan speed while
playing audio or video

I don't know if it's the answer but try disabling QOS and see if it makes a
difference.

Sorry, so far all the QOS, differential compression, network card settings
have been tried by various people with no success

It happens on different makes of motherboard/cpu/lan card/graphics card, so
there's nothing I can obviously point my finger at and for the few of us that
have xp on the same machine all works fine when booted into xp

Looks like it's been narrowed down to audio playback
Stripping the soundtrack out of a movie and playing it doesn't cause the
huge speed decrease

I wonder how many people who also complain about vistas lan speed have had
some audio software running at the same time
