Default loginning onto a network server

i set up a connection to our group's server whcih is password protected.
however i was only able to access it once. now when i type in my info i get
wrong login and where i typed my login, the computer has also added my
computer name. i am wondering if that is what is blocking me and how do i get
it to stop doing that. i had already changed some settings that was supposed
to prevent this, but it doesn't seem to be working. thanks.
