I have a computer running Windows Vista Home Premium. I have a dialup
connection (broadband is not availabe in out area yet) which I connect to using the Vista box. I would like to share this connection to my XP Pro computer. I have tried going into properties of the modem connection and changing the settings under the sharing tab, however, when I enable sharing, I can see the Residential Gateway device but the Vista comptuer and the XP computer can't display any websites. Firefox says that it can't find the server and IE says that it can't display the page. The computer dials fine, the Gateway device pops up but I can't view any websites. I have set the IP of the host (Vista) to 192.168.0.1 and have configured the firewall on the XP to accept that IP. I can share files etc but no the dialup connection. The Vista computer is plugged into the Uplink port and the XP into port No. 2 of a Fast Ethernet switch. When I had XP as the host, it worked fine, but the Vista as a host has some problems. |
