Dell PE 1800 CERC SATA RAID
I have attempted to install vista build 5600 x86 on a brand new dell
poweredge 1800 with SATA RAID. The install ran through the first reboot. After that, it continuously resets when trying to startup the operating system. The screen is completely black; although sometimes you get a hint of a progress bar. Any ideas? James Beverly, MA. |

Dell PE 1800 CERC SATA RAID
1) I probably should stay out of this since I don't have a SATA RAID, and am
repeating something that someone else said. 2) If you are not starting the install from an XP system then this is not going to help you. If you are starting the install from a sytem that is booted up and running XP, then the install actually starts under XP and your system is using ths XP drivers. at some point when enough of the Vista operating system has been loaded, the installer reboots the system, and when it restarts it is running in Vista. If at that point you don't have Vista drivers installed, your SATA RAID will not work. So the problem is two-fold. Get the right driver for your SATA RAID for Vista RC1 if there is one, and install it before you reboot. Todd "James @ Castel" wrote in message ...
