I have 4 computers three pc and a laptop two of the pc's have XP and the
other pc and laptop both have Vista Ultimate on them. Both of the Vista machines can get to the XP machines, by I.P. only, but I can't get the two Vista machines to see each other. I have turned off both of their firewall programs (both running Norton 360), but they still don't see each other. I have file sharing turned on and have files shared with Everyone allowed with full rights. I have tried names and I.P. addresses and neither will work. I need someone to help me here and tell me why the two Vista machines won't talk. They both talk to the XP machines and both have internet on them. |

If Norton 360 is part of the mix, you might want to remove that, using instructions provided by Symantec, religiously. http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/05/your-personal-firewall-can-either-help.html http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/0...ther-help.html Then check the NetBT setting, and any other personal firewalls. Make sure that NetBT is Enabled, consistently. http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2006/07/advanced-windows-networking-using.html http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2006/0...ing-using.html And look at logs from "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all", from each computer, so we can diagnose the problem. Read this article, and linked articles, and follow instructions precisely (download browstat!): http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/05/troubleshooting-network-neighborhood.html#AskingForHelp http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/0...#AskingForHelp -- Cheers, Chuck, MS-MVP 2005-2007 [Windows - Networking] http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/ Paranoia is not a problem, when it's a normal response from experience.
