RC1 Install shows floppy drive as B:
After installing RC1, my floppy drive shows up as drive letter B:
Could this be a motherboard/BIOS issue or is it Vista? If anyone else has experienced this issue with Vista builds, please let me know what I should do to correct the drive letter so it shows up as A: Thanks, KeithG1 |

RC1 Install shows floppy drive as B:
Hi KeithG1,
Don't think this is quite the same thing, but when I installed RC1, I had TWO floppy drives showing... A & B. When a disc was inserted in the drive, neither "device" would open it! I discovered that the power cable to the floppy drive was disconnected! Don't know why 2 drives appeared; any connection? No pun intended!!! Hi Mike, thanks for the response. Sorry, no connection to the issue you had.
In XP Pro, the drive shows up correctly as A: It's just in Vista it shows as B: Weird! Hi Keith,
Have you tried uninstalling the drive in device manager and letting VISTA find it again. -- Paul "KeithG1" wrote: After installing RC1, my floppy drive shows up as drive letter B: Could this be a motherboard/BIOS issue or is it Vista? Hi PaulB,
Good idea. Unfortunately, Vista found it and labeled it B: I tried checking the Registry too, but no luck. Thanks for trying! Hi KeithG1
Usually the way the operating system labels floppy drives is dependent on the cable and if a multi connector cable where on the cable. Have you tried another floppy cable? -- Paul "KeithG1" wrote: Hi PaulB, Good idea. Unfortunately, Vista found it and labeled it B: I tried checking the Registry too, but no luck. Thanks for trying!
