Was Excel running slow when you FIRST connected to the internet, and what
connection do you have: dial-up or broadband?
There are a lot of downloads for Office 2003 to bring it up to date.
And Vista has a lot of updates as well, and indexing to contend with.
More info please.

I have the exact same problem with Vista and Excel 2007. Installed all
updates but nothing seems to help. I actually think the issue started after
installing Microsoft's latests patches for Vista like the performance and
compatibility issue updates.

Actually I was noticing the same issue with XP Pro and Office 2003 Excel
after installing IE7 and the latest updates.
Particularly with copy and paste operations from html web pages.
