Can't install sound card and raid drivers.
Those 2 are unsigned, and non native it seems:
promise Tx2 plus and creative soundblaster audigy2 Zs. I just got Vista Rc1 installed this morning, and already running into some issues. When I install the drivers I got off the web for x64, it says either error, or unsigned drivers blah blah blah... From what I gathered on the web, it seems like microsoft decided to put restrictions here and there... including on drivers... meaning... if you have an old raid array with several terrabytes of files (on a pci controller so you don't loose your array everytime you upgrade pc/O.s), and that's an oldish card, or the drivers aren't signed yet... you get the picture. I used to be able to install those on xp (thank god I kept xp on it's own partition, I have a feeling vista is gona go bye bye by tonight :-S ). I tried to look up in Vista how to allow unsigned drivers, but I couldn't find it. I found this on the net: bcdedit /set nointegritychecks ON (to type in start/run), anyonce care to explain what that is? |

and here's how to install the 64 bit version of vista (I assume it works with
32 bit too). Boot from your xp cd, use the recovery console, then type fixboot, then fixmbr. REboot, it should go on to your xp. then fromat the partition where vista was installed (I will assume most of you installed it on a seperate partition/disk)... If you somehow managed to upgrade your old windows, I'm afraid you'll have to format your drive, and re-install your xp version...
