Realtek sound and 4.1 speakers
Hi all Can't get my rear 4.1 cambridge speakers to work. The 2.1 works fine. When i try to open the Realtek panel it comes up with an error and won't open. Has anyone got any ideas? Thanks in advance -- pele35uk ------------------------------------------------------------------------ pele35uk's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/member.php?userid=17773 View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/showthread.php?t=591148 http://www.techarena.in |

Realtek sound and 4.1 speakers
It is my understanding that surround sound is not yet implemented in
Realtek's Vista HD audio drivers. So 2.1 is all you will get until new drivers are released. Your post doesn't indicate whether your have Realtek HD or AC97, but I suspect there also is no surround capability yet for AC97. As to the Real HD Audio Manager (aka Control Panel) crashing. I had the same isssue with both Beta 2 and RC1 after installing the NAativrv01 device driver. I had to delete both the NAativrv01 device and its driver from the device manager and reinstall the Realtek Vista beta HD driver pack to get the control panel to run again. So my advice is to make sure you have the latest Vista beta drivers from Realtek and that there are no conflicting multimedia/audio devices installed. pele35uk wrote: Can't get my rear 4.1 cambridge speakers to work. my realtek and my friends realtek did the same thing.
reload your mb drivers for your realtek sound. then setup your speakers in your realtek setup program. after that ms update will update you with a new ms sound driver but your realtek soundman should still be working. surround is working fine in games, music and movies. after you get the ms audio driver update check your realtek setup then go to ms control panel and setup sound and you should be good to go. this has worked on a old 600 series realtek and a new 800 series realtek and seems to be a bug or omission in the sound driver setup.
