Default Lose XP access after Vista reboot

Dear Folks -

I've spent the past week reading all the info I can find re Vista & XP
(SP2)networking. I have gotten file and printer sharing to work, yet have one
remaining problem (that I can tell, anyway). Thank you in advance for taking
the time to read my post, and certainly any responses are welcome.

Symptom description:
When I reboot my Vista (Business), I lose the ability to access my XP
machine folders and files, although I can still print to the XP connected
printer. I can see the XP box on the extended/detailed map, but can't access
it from Network / Explorer. I can't see the printer until I do a "Print" and
then see it as the default in the printer selection window. In order to
access the XP's shared folders & files, I must reboot my XP machine, and then
it appears in Network / Explorer with all defined access capability. I never
lose access to the public folders and files on Vista at any time from the XP
machine (other than during reboots, of course).

Configuration Details:
Workgroup names are the same on both XP and Vista, both fully updated. LLTD
hot patch installed on XP.

Vista Networking and Sharing has:
- Network Discovery ON
- File Sharing ON
- Public Folder Sharing ON
- Password Protection OFF
- Printer sharing ON
- Media sharing OFF
- Network is set to “Private”
- IPV 6 unchecked / disabled

Been through the File & Printer Sharing in Vista
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/net...ta_fp.mspx#E1C several
times. Looked through the content on http://www.ChicagoTech.net
and www.HowToNetworking.com.

PC-cillin Internet Security 2007 & firewall on both (security Medium;
TCP/UDPs as appropriate), ensuring no change when all firewalls disabled or
on. Windows firewall off on both.

Verified all 192.168.10.n adxs. Netgear WGU624, 100MB Cat 5e hardwired. Full
internet access on both at all times.

Sorry for the tome. Certainly I may have missed something, so any help is
greatly appreciated. Must say this experience is similar to what I imagine
male berthing would be.

Thank you. Cheers!

- Chuck

Default Lose XP access after Vista reboot

Couple more things: First, I also ensured the "restrictanonymous" key in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control/Lsa was set to '0'
instead of '1'.

Second, I just found a couple of what appear to be really great resources on
networking and printer sharing in a mixed XP and Vista environment at:
http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2006/1...-together.html
http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2007/0...aring-are.html

I haven't fixed my issue of losing XP access after rebooting Vista, but I'll
definitely be looking the links above over.

Hope this helps someone here...

- Chuck (not PChuck at the links above, either)
