I have 2 new computers running Vista I have my wireless router setup and both
computers are connected to the internet just fine. How ever to access files on either computer from the other is just not happening. I have all the basics covered I have discovery turned on file sharing on public folder full access printer sharing password off Media sharing on and permissions to full access. Vista network and sharing center allows me to see the computers on the network most of the time but when i click to access the folders it comes up with an unknown eror and can't identify or fix it the most it can tell me is to check the folders name. |

Have you tried the following:
In Vista Networking and Sharing: 1 Network Discovery ON 2 File Sharing ON 3 Public Folder Sharing ON 4 Password Protected OFF 5 and the Network should be set to “Private” And have you made sure that the workgroup names are the same on XP and Vista. By default XP is MSHOME and Vista is WORKGROUP; they should be the same. Also "Shared Docs" in XP is called "Public Folder" in Vista "Bob Wulff" wrote: I did all that listed in your response and my 5 user Vista Business system peer to peer network does not work like his either.
