HP Scanning Issues
I have an Officejet 7210 all-in-one printer/scanner/copier. I downloaded the
HP software from the website and installed on the computer to manager the components. The printer and copier work fine, directly from the computer's HP Solution Center - however, I cannot scan and keep getting the error HP Cue Scanning Flow no responding. I spent 3 hours online with HP this morning and I'm terribly frustrated. Does anyone have a solution to this dilemma? |

Do you have all the Windows Updates for your PC?

HP Scanning Issues
This is the software you got?
HP Full Feature Software and Drivers 03-2007 080.001.237.000 - 163.07M AIO_CDB_Full_Network_enu.exe 1/1 (163.07M) and you did download and then install it, not use the Install now button? Two things you could try after downloading the file a 1 - Uninstall it and repeat the installation but this time right mouse click on the downloaded file and click on Run as Administrator. 2 - Repeat 1 but turn off Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) in Windows' Services until after you have installed and seen if the the device then works. A lot of people seem to be having problems with scanning in VISTA. |

The HP solution that I received indicated that scanning is done through "Windows Gallery" in Vista. However, this only provides scans as photos, i.e., jpeg, gif..etc. My former HP software allowed me to scan as pdf,s, text for OCR and the like so I haven't really solved much. I was told that HP Director cannot be installed and used in Vista. I am planning to upgrade to an HP 7180 primarily for the wireless and ethernet, bluetooth capabilities, but will probably hold off a while to see if things settle down between HP and Microsoft and maybe software can be altered to work before commiting. I still haven't found out how to fax . Anyone else's comments would be appreciated. |

HP Scanning Issues
Pam:
I have a HP Color LaserJet 2840. It is another All-in-One that I have had similar issues. After upgrading from XP Pro to Vista Business, I spend all of October with HP, Dell, and Microsoft support lines trying to get my CLJ 2840 to scan PDF. Best i could get was in a color mode at 600 dpi, where images were still not clear, with normal type not readable when near bolded type, and file sizes exceeding 1 MB perr page. At this point, HP stated I had an image, therefore their product "worked." Unfortunately, courts want 200-300 dpi, which means I must now sell a practically new HP CLJ 2040. My solution was to buy a Dell 3115cn that uses PaperPort software to scan to PDF. Let me know if you or others fare better.
