Default vista keeps changing ip address of printer

Hi

I have vista business and a HPc6180 printer, the network printer port is
192.168.1.5 but the vista machine keeps changing the setting to 192.168.1.3
and so the printer will not work and I must manually change the setting.

My XP machines all work fine.

Thoughts please

Ray

If this is a true network printer (not locally connected to a computer)
then assign it a static IP address outside the range of DHCP addresses
being handed out by the DHCP server (usually a router). IOW, if the DHCP
range is 192.168.1.2-192.168.1.99, make the printer 192.168.1.200. This
has nothing to do with any operating systems.
