Default Windows Vista Control Panel/Media Player Not Working

Hello, I am currently having trouble with my recently purchased laptop that
came with Windows Vista installed. It worked fine until this morning, where a
message says "Windows Control Panel has stopped working" when I attempt to
open it. Same goes for my Windows Media Player.

I ran the "sfc /scannow" command as suggested on another thread, but came up
with corrupt files right at the 99% mark: Details are included in the CBS.log
windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log.

How can I fix this?

I would try a System Restore to a point before the problems started. If that
doesn't fix the problem, you may have to do a Vista Upgrade Reinstall (see
link below) which will leave your programs, settings and files in place but
overwrite your system.

I forgot to add that if sfc identified only a handful of corrupt files, you
can access files on your Vista Install DVD to replace your corrupt files (see
link below).

HI ALL,

THIS WORKED FOR ME. IT IS DEAD EASY, VERY QUICK AND EFFECTIVE:

PRESS THE *CTRL-ALT-DEL* KEYS AT THE SAME TIME;

CLICK *START TASK MANAGER* FROM THE LIST PROVIDED;

CLICK *PROCESSES* FROM THE TABS AT THE TOP;

LOOK FOR *MPLAYER.EXE* (MEDIA PLAYER), SELECT IT AND CLICK *END
PROCESS*;
**
CLICK THE RED X TO CLOSE TASK MANAGER, RUN A VIDEO, HAVE FUN!

MIKEY
