Hello, I am currently having trouble with my recently purchased laptop that
came with Windows Vista installed. It worked fine until this morning, where a message says "Windows Control Panel has stopped working" when I attempt to open it. Same goes for my Windows Media Player. I ran the "sfc /scannow" command as suggested on another thread, but came up with corrupt files right at the 99% mark: Details are included in the CBS.log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. How can I fix this? |

I would try a System Restore to a point before the problems started. If that
doesn't fix the problem, you may have to do a Vista Upgrade Reinstall (see link below) which will leave your programs, settings and files in place but overwrite your system. http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/88...all-vista.html "nontakenname" wrote: Hello, I am currently having trouble with my recently purchased laptop that came with Windows Vista installed. I forgot to add that if sfc identified only a handful of corrupt files, you
can access files on your Vista Install DVD to replace your corrupt files (see link below). http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/86...dvd-files.html "nontakenname" wrote: Hello, I am currently having trouble with my recently purchased laptop that came with Windows Vista installed. HI ALL, THIS WORKED FOR ME. IT IS DEAD EASY, VERY QUICK AND EFFECTIVE: PRESS THE *CTRL-ALT-DEL* KEYS AT THE SAME TIME; CLICK *START TASK MANAGER* FROM THE LIST PROVIDED; CLICK *PROCESSES* FROM THE TABS AT THE TOP; LOOK FOR *MPLAYER.EXE* (MEDIA PLAYER), SELECT IT AND CLICK *END PROCESS*; ** CLICK THE RED X TO CLOSE TASK MANAGER, RUN A VIDEO, HAVE FUN!
