vista install
system vista rc1
amd 3200 2gig ram 1x 200 gig stata 2 hdd ( system ) 1x 320 gig sata 2 hdd ( storage ) 2x nvida 6600 gt sli config rating 4.0 my q is when i went to install vista on the 200 sata hdd it would not let me install while both hdd where conected , so disconnected the 320 hdd and installed the os on the 200 hdd , now when the system is up and running updates done i connected the second stata drive and went into disk man to see if the drive was there adjusted setting so computer will see the drive . vista was saying it was unallocted space and i had to reformat to use drive and with what i had on the drive i know i was going to lose the data on it ( not happy jan ) lucky i backed it all but will this if anyones knows be the deal every time one dose a reformat with vista. i thought with the updated windows os it would be able to see a old drive which was already formatted to ntfs and used for a period of time with xp and would not lose all the data on it .. so has any ideas why it done this and if it will do it everytime i reformat ?? nic |
