I'm a new owner of Vista Home Premium, installed the updates, updated video
card, etc. However whenever I start my computer the screen resets to the lowest resolution there is 6something by 4something, I have a widescreen monitor, so you can imagine why this bothers me, it's also a pain to go everytime to resize the resolution, Any ideas as to why it does this?? I originally thought it was the video card so I uninstalled it and reinstalled it with old drivers, but it didn't help.. |

Where did you get your updated video driver from. I only really use NVidia, and I always had problems until I installed the latest drivers available directly from NVidia. Otherwise I found this posting, see if it applies to you: So the resolution issue is a little challenging, but not impossible to work-around. The issue has actually been fixed in newer builds of Windows Vista, but until we have one that's broadly available for you to use, you can try the following steps (a little convoluted, but should get you going). 1) Run regedit 2) Locate HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Video\(XYZ)\ 0001, where (XYZ) is a GUID with a whole bunch of keys under it (look for DALRULE_GETLCDFAKEEDID). 3) Change the value with DALRULE_GETLCDFAKEEDID to 0. 4) Reboot. |
