Default vista business networking internet problem

please help me!
i have vista business and i¨have recently installed adsl from my local isp (
in Croatia ).But..
every time i want to go to the internet, windows blocks the connection, with
some "uniidentified network" (the network and sharing screen).Every time i
close my laptop,it goes into sleep mode, and the coonection is broken.
Is there any way to connect to the internet PERMANENTLY,without going
through networking. My computer is mostly for home use,so i do not need to
network with other computers, since i only have one anyway.please help
me,somebody!!

Regarding your laptop that is going into sleep mode when you close it: You
will need to change some settings in the Power Options. In the advance
section in one of the Power Plans you can choose what your laptop need to do
when you close it.

Regarding the connection: I will try to change the location type to
"Private" in the network and sharing center.
