Default Clean Installation

Thanks Malke

I deleted the partition, created new one, then selected format, the egg
timer came on for about 10 seconds then asked me to go to next, I did this
and it started installing, I was expecting the usual format scenario which
usually takes a while, as it has installed I can only assume the format took
place ?

Thanks
Dave

Hi
Sorry to double post but this might be the better forum

Just updated from XP Pro to Ultimate, I thought that when I booted from
the Vista disk it would do the same as XP, that is I could format the
drive and the install on a clean drive, but it just installed and kept my
XP in windows.old.
I have deleted windows.old as it was using to much space, as there does
not seem to be a format in Vista whats the best way to format then
install
Vista, do I boot off my XP disk and format then take it out and boot from
Vista or is there a better way

When you start the installation from the Vista DVD, you have two choices.
You can Upgrade or do a Custom install. You want the Custom install and
that will give you the options to delete any current partition(s), create
a
new one(s), and format.
