Default Screen Saver cutting Internet Connection

I've noticed ever since I upgraded to Home Premium from XP that when I leave
my computer on over night to download large files, the file will not have
gained much progress due to Vista cutting the connection when it goes into
Screen Saver. The only fix I thought for it would be to extend the time until
the screen saver starts but I don't think Vista realizes that I increased
that. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
