Default usb mass storage drives

I had a SanDisk Mini Cruzer, and an external harddrive, and for both of them,
it installed them as disk drives, but there was an error, which said "The
parameter is incorrect" How can i get my USB devices to work

I am having the same exact problem!! As are quite a few people; but
no one seems to have found the solution. I’ve been battling this for
two weeks now, with no luck at all. I tried the latest Vista update,
but still no luck. Now, to make matters worse, I decided to say screw
it and just revert back to XP, but my Thinkpad recovery software won’t
run in Vista!!

So I’m at a complete loss.

I think I figured it out, I had installed a SCSI driver, and that was making
it not work, I used System Restore to before I intalled it, and its working
now

did you install any other drivers for other usb devices or hard drives before
trying to put in the usb device, because i found that installling those
drivers messes up the usb storage device driver

I got the same error with all USB Mass Storage devices from flash drives to
iPods. I was able to successfully get them working by uninstalling the
software for my Netgear SC101 network storage unit, which doesn't work in
Vista anyway.

Hope this helps,

Phil

I had a similar problem that was fixed by updating motherboard drivers.

You sir are a lifesaver!...I have a lot less hair after trying to get three
different USB drives to install, and also have the SC101 software installed
while waiting for Netgear to get it in gear and release drivers for the half
a terrabyte they are holding hostage on the SC101 (well not really as I can
still access it from my XP machines...but still!)...I never would have put
the culprit as the SC101, and in fact Kingston has sent RMA's for the drives
thinking they were defective.
