"Unidentified network" on 1gb lan with wireless network running
I am running 2 new Vista Ultimate 32 bit machines. One has a Intel 985BX2
motherboard with onboard 1 Gb LAN. The other an Asus P5K Deluxe mothboard with Realtek and Marvel 1GB LANs. Both are connected to a Netgear DG834GT wirless router which has the internet connection. I am trying to also connect the machines by 1Gb LAN to allow fast media copies/steaming. Over the wireless it starts copying well but slows up. When I plug in a crossover cable I get "Unidentified network". If I disable wireless the machines cannot see each other. I have set this 1Gb connection on both to "private". I have also merged locations but not bridged the connections. As per other threads I have tried disabling the IPv6 but it did not work. The ipconfig output from both is below. Can anybody help how to get these to work? Also when working how to I control whether traffic is over the 1gb or the wireless? "Unidentified network" on 1gb lan with wireless network running
The multihomed Vista may receive "Unidentified network" message if it is configured incorrectly. Try to assign 192.168.1.x Ip to both 1GB LAN and make sure they can ping each other. Otherwise check this search result.
Vista issuesthe Vista laptop has limited connectivity to "Unidentified network". "Unidentified network" on 1gb lan with wireless network runnin
I had a play around but no luck. To be specific. If when currently connected
on wireless Router is 192.168.0.1 PC1 is 192.168.0.2 PC2 is 192.168.0.4 What should I set the following to in the 1Gb card network properties in each PC? IP address Subnet mask Default gateway DNS I assume I do this in IPv4 properties. Do I do anything with IPv6 or do I untick that? Thanks for the help.
