Default Cannot see access files on NAS Drive

I'm trying to access files on a network disk (STORAGEBIRD LAN) from my Vista
Home Premium machine. I can see the shares and the directories but I cannot
see the files and the explorer hangs when trying to display them.
The network drive works fine from XP machines in the network.

As there seems to be a lot of problems with Vista and SMB I have found a
number of suggestions.
I have upgraded the firmware on the disk drive to an SMB3 version. I have
also tried changing the registry setting LmCompatibilityLevel to 1 which
seems a popular solution. None of these things have helped.

What else can I try?

Thanks in advance

I have just realized that it is possible to list the files at the command
prompt but the Explorer still hangs. Any ideas?
