Cannot print on vista with printer HP 5550
Hi, I'm on x64 Vista and it keeps installing the printer part of my hp psc1210 in "other devices" - it installs the scanner part correctly in "imaging devices". Vista tells me it has the correct drivers and the HP website says Vista has the right drivers so they don't make any available for download. I wouldn't mind it being in "other devices" if I could find a way of operating it from there. Does anyone have any ideas please? Thanks. SIW2 -- SIW2 |

Most printers do not show up in Device Manager. They show up in Control
Panel, Printers. As long as it shows up at File, Print, why worry? -- Cari (MS-MVP) Printing & Imaging www.coribright.com/windows "SIW2" wrote in message ... Thanks for that Cari. The problem is that because Vista has installed it under "other devices" in device manager, it does not show up under printers and I can't access it at all. It is not being recognised as a printer so when I open printers under control panel, it is empty. Any ideas? SIW2 -- SIW2 |

What if you connect it to your old computer and print from laptop through the XP computer. We have 1 vista x64 and 1 xp laptop connected to an XP desktop with no problems. I wrote 'this tutorial' (http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/17...xp-vista.html), and it has worked for me, so maybe try this. PS- We have a Canon MP150, works great for $100. -- Extensa *Acer Extensa 5620 Notebook *Windows Vista Home Premium x64 *15.4 WXGA (1280x800*320GB Hard Disk *Intel Core 2 Duo 5750 @ 2.0 GHz *ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2400XT *4GB DDR2 667 SDRAM _-*If_it_ain't_broken,_don't_fix_it!*-_ |

Sorry, didn't realize that you got rid of your old computer. But at least you got it to work.
