I can ping th XP machine from The Vista machine but not visa versa.

if turning off the firewall on Vista, can you ping?

No I cannot. I can ping the other machine from the vista but can't ping the
vista machine.

I would double check the firewall or other security software.

Both the firewall and antivirus are disabled. Any other suggestions?
