Default Here's how to make a HP Scanjet 4500 work with Vista

My HP ScanJet 4500 driver and software won't install correctly with Vista.

What does work though is the simple Twain/WIA driver for ScanJet.

Default Here's how to make a HP Scanjet 4500 work with Vista

It also works if you simply go into scanners in the control panel. Now I have
to use the old HP Photo & Imaging to do my scanning as the HP Director
doesn't work in Vista and HP doesn't care that it's customers are left
hanging. The told me that they don't care about any of the Beta's or RC's of
Vista and will only look into making proper drivers available once the RTM is
out. You can make the buttons on the scanner work though, also through the
control panel. TTFN
