Default Device Manager reports 2 CPU

I have only 1 Intel Pentium IV CPU.
Device Manager shows it twice.
Why?

Does your Intel CPU support Hyper-Threading?

Do you have it enabled?

Hyper-threading essentially emulates a dual-core cpu and
windows will see it as a dual core.

You might have an Pentium 4 HT CPU. The HT stands got HyperThreading
which supposedly allows the processor to run multiple threads more
efficiently.
It's seen by XT and Vista as two separate processors.

Oh oh... Once you install the final retail version of Vista be on the
lookout for the MS lawyers knocking on your door. You may not have enough
licenses to run a P4 with the HT turned on.

Were you running Windows HOME before? If so, you were wasting half your CPU.

This is normal under XP Pro and Vista when you have a hyperthreading CPU.
It's not quite a duel core, but it does make for a faster PC.
